With safety and performance in everyones mind during indy race month and following the tragic death of 3 time world champion F1 driver ayrton senna, this plenary is uniquely important. Taking place June 13-18 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, SunWorld '94 is the leading conference and exposition for the community of Sun, SPARC, and Solaris users, resellers, third party software vendors, service providers and system integrators. Led by Dr. Charles Clarke, a leading IT and CAD/CAM consultant and journalist from the UK, the panel will discuss the importance of high end graphics and simulation, transfer of technology, and the use of sun systems for telemetrics between on board cars systems and trackside computers. The panel will be joined by top jet engine engineer joe mares from Rohr Inc. who will focus on uses of Sun graphics systems in the aerospace industry. Joe Mares was responsible for the design of aircraft and thrust reverser systems for the V2500-D5 nacelle used on the MD-90 airliner. Race car team panelists will include Nick Goozee, managing director of Penske cars, Andy Willard, CAD/CAM designer from Ferrari formula 1, Dieter Gundel, head of systems engineering at McLaren, and Nigel Hobden co-founder of Random Limited, a key supplier to the race car industry. Al Unser Jr is on pole, Emerson Fittipaldi is front row, position 3, and Paul Tracy is in the 9th row. The new car, and the much talked about Mercedes engines are highly fancied. Emo did the fastest lap time at over 230 mph (average)!!!!! Nick Goozee, the boss of Penske cars, responsible for their design, manufacture, and test is one of the line up at the Sunworld plenary on June 15 at Moscone. McLaren and Ferrari f1 are the others. Joe Mares, jet engine designer from Rohr Inc, will also be there to talk about technology transfer, and the use of Sun graphics systems in aerospace. Penske is the most successful team in indy history, and McLaren is the most successful team in formula 1 world championship history. Ferrari has entered f1 just this year, and has been the car of the year so far. All of these cars are designed, analysed, and then manufactured through the use of software running on Sun. In addition McLaren has been the most innovative user of Sun systems for telemetry. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Subject: Swiss Bank Corp Session with Zander & Jobs SunWorld ' 94 at Moscone Center in San Francisco, June 13 - 18 1994, will feature a plenary session discussing the use of Sun as a strategic platform for financial and commercial environments on Thursday June 16 from 9.00am to 10.30 am. Hosted by Dwight Koop and Pat Kerpan of Swiss Bank Corp, the session will feature Ed Zander, President, SunSoft, and Steve Jobs, chairman and CEO of NeXT Computer inc. The panel will discuss the use of Sun as a strategic platform for gaining and maintaining competitive advantage in commercial environments. Round One - the battle against closed OS vendors has been won! Sun and NeXT are the assertive leaders setting the standards in the UNIX sector. But many believe there is a "new blue" fighting innovation. Will Sun and NeXT take the lead? What will be so unique about Solaris 3.0 and OpenStep 4.0? How can transnational organizations join the Sun/NeXT partnership and get the edge on their competitors? How will Sun and NeXT reach for the high ground to the extended enterprise? What can you build with NeXT, Sun and OpenStep that you can't with windows or MAC? These, and other critical questions, will be answered in this enlightening debate. Special emphasis will be placed on the financial industry's use of Solaris as a strategic platform. But the lessons learned can be applied to virtually all commercial applications. About Mr. Koop and Mr. Kerpan: As senior vice-president and executive director at Swiss Bank Corp. Dwight Koop is responsible for managing the systems engineering department, and is accountable for coordinating architecture, infrastructure, and office automation policy for all of the swiss bank's international finance group (IFG.)
