The New Product Achievement Award Competition recognized the best and brightest new products, product enhancements, and/or product upgrades making their debut at ComNet `94, the premier computer networking and communications conference and exposition, held this week at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. The winners were announced this evening at an Awards Ceremony held at the Renaissance Ballroom at the Washington, D.C. Renaissance Hotel. Gary Beach, Publisher of Computerworld, the sponsor of the program, congratulated all winners and presented each winner with a crystal award. Winners also received exclusive rights to use the ComNet `94 New Product Achievement Award winner logo in all promotional literature for one year. The products were evaluated on the basis of innovation, industry contribution, integration with their current product lines, migration capabilities and return on investment. Three finalists were selected per category. At the show attendees viewed the new product finalists in the ComNet `94 New Product Achievement Award Showcase located in the main lobby of the Washington Convention Center and voted electronically for one winner per category plus the grand winner. Exhibitors were excluded from the voting process. To qualify for the competition, products must be making their debut at ComNet `94 and cannot have already been introduced or exhibited in the same form at previous trade shows. New products that have been announced within six weeks preceding ComNet `94 were also eligible. "The prestigious New Product Achievement Award was presented to the most outstanding new products debuting at ComNet. The award not only represents prestige, but indicates the popular choice of the users - the people that rely on the newest innovations to manage their networks. These products will make a tremendous impact on the industry for months to come," said Robin Anreola, ComNet Show Director. The ComNet `94 New Product Achievement Award Competition is sponsored by COMPUTERWORLD, an International Data Group (IDG) publication and the newspaper of information systems management. ComNet Honorees Since 1986, when ComNet introduced its New Product Program, over 1300 new products have made their debut at ComNet. The seven winners of this year's competition will join the ComNet `93 and ComNet `92 honorees. The ComNet `93 Honorees were CACI Products Co. for COMNET III; Crescendo Communications for 1000 CDDI Workgroup Concentrator; John Fluke Manufacturing Company for Fluke 670 LANMeter; MCI for 800 MultiManager; and Tekelec for Chameleon 600. The ComNet `92 Honorees were Compression Labs for its Rembrandt II/VP; Cylink for its FTI Access Radio; MCI for its MCI Perspective; Newbridge Networks for its TAP System; and Tellabs for its HDSL Transmission System. ComNet `94 ComNet `94 is being held at the Washington Convention Center this week.
