The Manual will be available, at no charge, through the Board Products Marketing group at SMCC. QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS --------------------- Q. What operating system does the RTU apply to? A. The SPARCengine 10 RTU is a single-user Solaris 1.1 Version A RTU and a 2.x RTU upgrade license. The OEM is licensed to run both Solaris 1.1 and Solaris 2.x operating environments. Q. How much memory does the SPARCengine 10 come with? A. The SPARCengine 10 comes with no memory. This gives OEMs the flexibility to purchase as much or as little memory as required by their application, thus minimizing the product line items in the OEM's inventory. The SPARCengine 10 can support up to 512 MB RAM when using 64-MB SIMMS. Q. Does Sun offer any multi-processing (MP) SPARCengine 10s? A. Customers achieve MP through standard SPARCstation 10 upgrades and X-option modules. From the SPARCengine 10-40 and SPARCengine 10-51 the customer can upgrade to the SPARCengine10-402 and SPARCengine 10-512 with the appropriate x-option module. From the SPARCengine 10-512 he can upgrade to a SPARCengine 10-514 with the UG-M512-M514 upgrade. Q. Why hasn't Sun repriced the SPARCengine 10 Models 30 and 41? A. The SPARCengine 10 Models 30 and 41 are still available, but because of the long development cycles of SPARCengine 10 OEM customers we felt it was important to encourage them to move to SPARCengine products that are easily upgradable and had longer product lives. We do this by offering better pricing on our new SPARCengine 10 Models 40 and 51, and not offering price reductions on the older SPARCengine 10 Models 30 and 41. This means customers get a lower cost, higher performance SPARCengine with a clear and simple upgrade path. Q. Can I still order the SECL-HW-DOC off the price list? A. No. We've taken it off the price list effective immediately. You can obtain it, at no charge, through the Board Products Marketing group at SMCC.
