Improves filesharing performance on Sun fileservers while maintaining full NFS protocol, SPARC ABI, and UNIX filesystem compatibility ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sun introduces the re-release of SBus Prestoserve, for Solaris 2.1. This low-cost SBus-based NFS(R) accelerator allows you to take advantage and capture NFS file server business, now, under Solaris 2.1. Sun's SBus Prestoserve is a high-performance, single-width, SBus card and software that substantially improves NFS performance. By improving NFS performance, SBus Prestoserve delivers dramatic improvement in disk throughput, so heavily loaded fileservers can support more clients and offer better response time. It is designed to improve NFS performance in cases were synchronous writes are involved. SBus Prestoserve consists of a single-width SBus card with 1-MB of non-volatile cache memory, a UNIX(R) device driver and utility programs. It is designed to operate on any Sun-4(TM)m and Sun-4c SPARC(R) -processor based system running Solaris(R) 2.1 operating environment. Since all drivers, under Solaris 2.X, are loablable. The installation of SBus Prestoserve is easier than ever, taking about 5 minutes.
