MOUNTAIN VIEW, California - March 29, 1993 - Sun Microsystems Computer
Corporation (SMCC) today announced that it will sell and provide end
user support for the Solaris(R) distributed computing solution for x86.
The announcement was made in conjunction with the Annual Solaris
Developer Conference being held here today.

"While SMCC won't be selling x86 hardware, we are the leading end-user
distribution and support organization for Solaris worldwide. It's a
natural fit for us to use that expertise and experience to bring
Solaris to end users. By providing x86 end-users with Solaris we give
them a single, open robust software environment for heterogenous
hardware platforms," said Larry Hambly, Vice President of Marketing for
SMCC. "As the common open software environment evolves Solaris 2 will
be the basis for our implementation of those capabilities."

Specific end-user pricing for Solaris on x86 platforms will be
published by first customer shipment in May.
