Japanese Solaris 2.2 will be fully supported by the North American Solution Center. The international versions of Solaris 2.2 are created from the same source tree as Solaris 2.2 with the language specific localization on top. All information regarding English Solaris 2.2 will also apply to the international versions. Two key markets will benefit from this product release: U.S. based multi-national companies who conduct business in Japan. And Japanese based multi-national companies who require their local computing environment here in the U.S. Customers purchasing hardware systems beginning January 1, 1993, receive a Solaris 2.x user license as part of their hardware "bundle". Customers in Europe receive the bundled European Solaris 2.x license, customers in Japan receive the Japanese Solaris 2.x license, and so forth. Because customers in the U.S. receive the U.S. Solaris 2.x license, they must purchase a separate upgrade license for each l localized version of Solaris they require. No export or redistributions of the product is allowed except under PASSPORT terms and conditions. Prior to accepting the order, customers are required to complete a licensing agreement and customer profile survey.
