SunLink(R) OSI 8.0 provides customers with a powerful platform for implementing a new suite of high-performance Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) communication products. The complete SunLink OSI development environment will include standard application programming interfaces (API) as defined by X/Open and UNIX International (UI), such as TLI and APLI, to support third party application developers. The SunLink OSI product suite supports XMP, XOM and XAPI APIs and is currently being tested for GOSIP V2 certification. The new SunLink products, all of which support the Solaris(R) 2.x, operating environment, are: SunLink OSI 8.0 --------------- The SunLink OSI 8.0 platform, which is designed to be compliant with industry and the U.S. Government Open System Interconnection Profile (GOSIP) V2 specifications, will ship with an intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) that greatly reduces installation time and provides an easy to use interface for application development and administration. Requires the Solaris 2.x environment or later. SunLink X.400 8.0 ----------------- SunLink X.400 provides the CCITT 1988 X.400 message handling support to connect both UNIX(R) and Sun(TM) system electronic mail users to worldwide e-mail networks through an SMTP/X.400 gateway. SunLink X.400 includes a full set of development tools (APIs include XOM and XAPIA) for mail gateways, classical messaging applications and Electronic Data Interchange (EDI). Requires the Solaris 2.x environment or later. SunLink FTAM 8.0 ---------------- SunLink File Transfer, Access and Management (FTAM) software gives users direct use of FTAM initiator/responder services through an application programming interface. Requires SunLink OSI 8.0 and the Solaris 2.1 environment or later. SunLink CMIP 8.0 ---------------- SunLink Common Management Information Protocol (CMIP) product can be used by Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) to develop OSI-based network management applications. In addition, SunLink CMIP works with SunConnect's management console, SunNet Manager(TM), to allow telecommunication businesses such as local and long distance carriers to manage their networks through SPARC(R) workstations. Requires SunLink OSI 8.0 and the Solaris 2.1 environment or later. SunLink VT 8.0 -------------- SunLink Virtual Terminal (VT) Support for the ISO Virtual Terminal (VT) service is now included in SunLink OSI 8.0 through SunLink VT enabling local clients to establish interactive connections to remote systems across an OSI network. Requires SunLink OSI 8.0 and the Solaris 2.1 environment or later. There are currently no plans to transition SunLink OSI 7.0 or SunLink MHS (X.400) 7.0 off the price list. Both products support the Solaris 1.x environment. SunLink OSI 7.0 and SunLink MSH (X.400) 7.0 will continue to be offered by SMCC.
