The Users Group is a forum for SunNet Manager users and application developers to exchange advice and ideas on all aspects of using the SunNet Manager platform. SnMUG's first meeting will take place during the INTEROP '92 FALL tradeshow at Moscone Center in San Francisco. DeskTalk Systems, Inc., a leading network systems integrator, founded the group, which is open to all SunNet Manager users and application developers. DeskTalk envisions that the group will: Present real-world usage of SunNet Manager and associated applications; Exchange information, such as product reviews and tips for better network management through SunNet Manager; and Band together to suggest enhancements and future product features to the SunNet Manager platform and to third-party applications. "SunNet Manager's open architecture leaves a lot of room for users to customize network management capabilities," said David Kaufman, president of DeskTalk Systems. "Yet, the burden of trying to figure out how to put the various network management applications together falls to users by default, with little or no assistance from vendors. "With the formation of this group, we intend for users and application developers to work together to better understand and implement network management solutions," said Kaufman. At INTEROP '92 FALL, SnMUG will hold its first meeting to outline its charter and query prospective members about their interests in molding the group's purpose and activities. The meeting will be held Thursday, Oct. 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Palace. Interested parties are requested to stop by DeskTalk's booth (# 3049) to register for membership and to pick up a CD (free to registrants) with SunNet Manager application software. SnMUG is looking for volunteers to fill a variety of officer positions and to start regional SnMUGs. "We're excited about the formation of the SunNet Manager Users Group," said Alan Conley, consultant engineer at Pacific Gas & Electric. "This new group solidifies the viability and prominence of the SunNet Manager platform and gives users and developers the opportunity to work together on developing network management solutions. Most importantly, SnMUG will help users bring out the full power of the SunNet Manager platform and give them a single voice in requesting enhancements," Conley said. SnMUG plans to publish its first newsletter in time for distribution at INTEROP '92 FALL and is looking for author contributions.
