Desktop IV is one of the largest microcomputer acquisitions ever with an estimated value of more than $740 million over three years. In addition, SunSoft strengthened its position in the federal market by signing a distribution agreement with Government Technology Services, Inc. (GTSI), the leading reseller of microcomputer hardware, software and networking products to the federal government market as well as a reseller of workstations, software and peripherals. This marketing and distribution deal adds the INTERACTIVE UNIX System product line to GTSI's Government Services Administration Schedule B/C (GSA), making it easy for government buyers to purchase INTERACTIVE UNIX. The GTSI/SunSoft relationship demonstrates GTSI's continuing commitment to providing comprehensive open systems solutions In light of the other major Department of Defense and civilian agency contracts which specify SunSoft products, Desktop IV solidifies SunSoft's position as a major player in the government system software marketplace. Other recent successful bids for INTERACTIVE UNIX System software in the federal market include contracts with the U.S. Postal Service, U.S. Army, Defense Logistics, Veterans Affairs and the Treasury Department. The combined total value of these contracts is in excess of $2 billion over the next 3-5 years.
