   SunSelect Announces Acquisition Of Praxsys Technologies Assets

 Move to Further Business Unit's Expertise in Growing PC Emulation Arena


BILLERICA, Mass.--September 16, 1992--SunSelect(TM), a business unit of
Sun Microsystems, Inc., today announced that it has acquired the assets
of Praxsys Technologies, Inc., a software development firm specializing
in personal computer (PC) emulation technology. The company develops
technology that allows PC applications to run on UNIX(R) system
workstations.

"We saw that the technology developed by Praxsys would allow us to
develop emulation products for all UNIX system platforms," said Carl S.
Ledbetter, vice president of Sun Microsystems, Inc. and general manager
of SunSelect. "This acquisition reaffirms SunSelect's position as a
leading provider of PC emulation technology in the UNIX market."

Sun Microsystems first entered the emulation market in 1987 with the
introduction of the Sun386i workstation, which was equipped with an
Intel processor, enabling the user to run both UNIX operating system
and MS-DOS(R) applications. Sun also developed and marketed DOS
Windows(TM) software in 1988, which emulated MS-DOS applications on
SPARC(R) workstations. SunSelect today markets SunPC(TM) software, a
high-performance PC emulation package with optional hardware
acceleration SBus card products that allow MS-DOS and Microsoft(R)
Windows(TM) applications to run on SPARC systems with the Solaris(R)
operating environment at 80486 speeds.

About Praxsys Technologies, Inc.

Praxsys was established in 1990 in Norwood, Mass. to focus on
developing and marketing system utilities that provide application
connectivity for heterogeneous workstation markets. Its team of
engineers will be employed by SunSelect and will be located in
Norwood.
