As part of the marketing agreement SMCC and CTP will identify manufacturing accounts that desire to rightsize, then specify a cohesive plan for open system application migration and development. In addition, SMCC and CTP will jointly host a seminar series on rightsizing for manufacturing companies. SMCC and CTP plan on initiating 20 integrated business system projects in the next twelve months based on the SPARC (R)/Solaris (R) platform. The projects range in size from $500,000 to $5 million in revenue from products and services. The companies expect at least $10 million in combined worldwide business. "Manufacturers have to move fast to shorten product development cycles and improve time to market. If their computing infrastructure can't handle the pace, they lose," said Mario Dal Canto, SMCC Director of Technical and Industrial Market Development. "Sun offers a platform to quickly integrate open systems with legacy systems. CTP offers rapid application development and deployment within this environment. Together we offer a flexible, cost-effective open computing solution for the manufacturers who must adapt their systems to changing business needs." "Sun and CTP form a natural synergy in this effort," commented James K. Sims, President & CEO of CTP. "Both organizations have been committed to open systems and client- server, distributed computing from the beginning. In the past 18 months, we have seen significant demand from manufacturers to move to this new strategic paradigm. Malcolm Frank, Director of OEM relations at CTP added, "Sun and CTP have already had major successes with manufacturers in transforming the way in which they use information technology, and we intend to leverage that success through this formal relationship." CTP's strength is in its experience in assisting Fortune 1,000 organizations in applying open systems technology to achieve a competitive advantage. Through its proven methodology, CTP assesses specific client needs and corporate objectives and then addresses these objectives through a cohesive plan of application building, open systems training, and change management consulting. CTP, Inc. is a premier provider of open systems services to major enterprises worldwide. CTP has extensive experience in assessing, structuring and implementing customized open systems, client-server solutions. Through partnership with clients, CTP achieves results in unprecedented time frames. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ For information send mail to info-sunflash@sunvice.East.Sun.COM.
