Overview: TIVOLI is a software company headquartered in Austin, TX focused on providing next-generation object-based tools for system administration. TIVOLI has been chosen by OSF/DME, UI/Atlas/USL, and SunSoft as the framework technology of choice for Distributed Systems Management. In addition to framework technology, TIVOLI's application products, WizDOM Primary Resource Management (PRM) and Privilege and Security Management (PSM), run on SPARC 4.1.x systems. They use a common object-based framework and common OPENLOOK GUI as well as a robust command-line interface. PRM began shipping to customers in January '92 and PSM will ship in April. PRM allows you to: - manager hosts, users and groups - simplify NIS mgmt - create and administer policy - establish notification services - provide basic security services PSM allows you to: - share responsibility through secure "privilege mgmt" - manage the Kerberos security/authentication system. WALTHAM, MA - March 31, 1992 -- Aurora Technologies, Inc. today announced that their line of Multiport parallel and serial SBus multiplexer products support NeWSprint(TM) 2.0 software from SunPics(TM). NeWSprint software turns output devices into networked peripherals by delivering PostScript-compatible output capabilities to non-PostScript(R) printers without the hardware restrictions or investment usually required. NeWSprint 2.0 offers significant improvements over NeWSprint 1.0 including faster raster-image printing speeds, improved color performance, and the ability to print from PCs, Macintosh(R), and other systems. NeWSprint 2.0 users can take advantage of the performance and flexibility inherent in Aurora's line of parallel and serial multiplexer products. "NeWSprint 2.0 software offers users the benefit of great flexibility in developing their PostScript output strategies," said Dennis Daudelin, President of Aurora Technologies, Inc. "By using Aurora's Multiport products to connect multiple types of output devices, users can take advantage of the output versatility of NeWSprint and gain the benefits of increased system performance and better SBus slot utilization." COMPATIBLE WITH HUNDREDS OF OUTPUT DEVICES Aurora's family of Multiport products provides full support for hundreds of printing devices. These devices offer various printing technologies ranging from ink jet, dot matrix, color thermal and laser printers to standard and electrostatic plotters that use the popular Centronics(R) parallel and RS232 serial interfaces. These products include sophisticated hardware and driver design features which reduce the demand on the SPARC system's CPU resources, freeing more power for user applications. For NeWSprint software users with a need for Centronics compatible parallel ports, Aurora offers products with a variety of port configurations. The products with multiple ports address the output needs of both individuals using dedicated workstations and departmental users connected to servers, while preserving scarce SBus slots. Multiport Model 10S(TM) - Single port Centronics interface. Multiport Model 210S(TM) - Single port Centronics with two RS232 serial ports. Multiport Model 20S+(TM) - Dual port, high-performance Centronics interface. Connecting to devices equipped with serial ports, NeWSprint software users can choose among Aurora's popular intelligent serial multiplexers. These products are also used to connect terminals, modems and other serial devices allowing optimal utilization of a single SBus slot. Multiport Model 400S(TM) - Four high-performance intelligent serial ports. Multiport Model 800S(TM) - Eight high-performance intelligent serial ports. Multiport Model 1600S(TM) - Sixteen high-performance intelligent serial ports. PRICING AND AVAILABILITY Multiport Model 10S - $395.00 Multiport Model 400S - $795.00 Multiport Model 210S - $595.00 Multiport Model 800S - $1495.00 Multiport Model 20S+ - $595.00 Multiport Model 1600S - $1995.00 Available immediately, each of these products includes a simple-to-install, optimized device driver, a helpful User's Guide, a one year limited warranty, maintenance for the first year, and telephone support for the life of the product. These products have a user base in the thousands, having sold steadily since their introduction more than two years ago. NeWSprint 2.0 software is available through Sun's Value Added Dealer network at a retail price of $695.00. The SPARC Verified logo indicates that SPARC International has tested and verified these products as compatible with SPARC Systems that meet SCD 1.1. ### Based in Waltham, Massachusetts, Aurora Technologies, Inc., develops, markets, manufactures and supports enhancement products for SPARC workstations. The main features of UFORIA are: VERSATILITY - any type of system (Unix or VMS) can be the data source (client) or data repository (server) or both. Multiple clients can simultaneously exchange data with multiple servers performing many BACKUP/RESTORE operations at the same time. Operations can be initiated by individual users, or operators on server nodes. FUNCTIONALITY - the full set of necessary operations: backup/restore of complete file systems as well as separate files, attended and unattended modes, incremental and full backups, archiving, local access to backup volumes, and multi-tape volumes. All VMS file types are supported. MANAGEABILITY - centralized and distributed control (job pausing, aborting, etc.), multiple interactive monitoring tools, recovery procedures, event and error logging. Comprehensive and flexible security features allow system managers to tailor UFORIA activity to their security needs. PORTABILITY - UFORIA supports multiple platforms, operating systems, and backup devices (SUN Unix, Ultrix (VAX), Ultrix (RISC), VMS, different tape devices). VMS nodes require a TCP/IP package (we currently support DEC's UCX and TGV's Multinet). A native user interface is used for each supported operating system. COMPATIBILITY - platform-independent data format allows you to save and restore data between different platforms and still preserve OS-specific file organization; backup tapes can be physically moved to and read from other operating systems. Cross-platform restores are supported (with appropriate name and file type changes, etc.).
