SMCC's strategy for selling PC-NFS is to direct customers to SunExpress and other SunTech channels. PC-NFS was the first product in the market to offer ONC/NFS on the DOS platform; ONC/NFS has the industry's largest installed base of multivendor networked systems. In a recent PC Week review of competitive products, PC-NFS was given the "Analyst's Choice" award among DOS/NFS packages. PC-NFS enables DOS and Windows users to share information and resources with users on workstations, minicomputers and mainframes. By creating an environment in which file systems and printers on remote systems are treated as separate local disk drives, PC-NFS enables PC users to access network resources from the user's familiar MS-DOS or MS-Windows desktop interfaces. PC-NFS software also provides file transfer utilities, terminal emulation, and network management services for monitoring and collecting statistics, and messaging facilities for networkwide communication. In addition, any PC on the network can be used as a print server. The new version of PC-NFS provides full MS-Windows 3.0 and 3.1 support. Using either MS-Windows 3.x or MS-DOS 5.0, users can run multiple simultaneous sessions of PC-NFS applications and utilities. With PC-NFS 4.0 users access all network resources directly from MS-Windows--login, logout, mount drives and printers, and browse the network. Plus users can run all PC-NFS utilities, including FTP and Telnet, in multiple resizable windows.
