       SunMicrophone - Sun now has a complete audio story

 	- Diamond shaped microphone ships with every SPARCstation
 	  beginning mid-April,1992, making it easy to incorporate audio
 	  into applications.

 	- Microphone can either be attached to the monitor or has a
 	  clip to attach to clothing

 	- Extended reach - comes with a 2 meter cable

 	Other Audio elements
 	- AudioTool shipping with OWV3 for play/record/edit of audio
 	- AudioTool integrated with OWV3 Multimedia Mail
 	- All current SPARCstations are audio ready with CODEC, speakers
 	  and audio cable.

Sun is now shipping a microphone free with every new Sun workstation as
part of the country kit. Installed base customers can order the
microphone (part #370-1414) via SunExpress for US$29. Installed base
customers in those countries not having access to SunExpress may order
the microphone from the spares price list.

This announcement is very significant because Sun now has a complete audio
story. Sun has been shipping an audio ready workstation since the
SPARCstation1+ with a built in audio CODEC, speakers, and audio cable to
connect other audio devices such as a microphone or external speakers.
With Open Windows Version3, Sun also started shipping audiotool and
multimedia mail which permits users to send audio attachments via email.
Sun ISVs have developed one of the largest pools of third party
applications incorporating audio. The applications that incorporate audio
include AutoCAD, Clarity, Frame, Gain, Interleaf, Informix. In addition,
there are many third party hardware vendors selling high end audio
solutions on Suns, such as MIDI adapters, digital audio interface and
stereo audio interface devices.

For all new systems, the microphone is bundled with the country kit.
For existing systems, the microphone can be ordered from SunExpress at
1-800-USA-4SUN in US at $29. Part number is #370-1414. For other countries,
microphone for the installed base can be ordered in the same way spares are
ordered. Please note that the Microphone appears as a line item in
the spares price list.
