     Arrow Electronics To Distribute Sun SPARCengine Boards

   Becomes First Master Reseller to Offer SPARCengine Products

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. --March 10, 1992-- Arrow Electronics, Inc. and
Sun Microsystems Computer Corporation (SMCC) jointly announced that
Arrow's Commercial Systems Group will add SMCC's SPARCengine(R) 2 and
SPARCengine IPX(TM) boards to the list of products it now distributes
through Sun-authorized resellers in the United States.  Arrow already
carries SMCC's complete line of workstations and servers.  The addition
of these boards will enhance Arrow's ability to further service the
growing embedded board market, which includes medical and laboratory
equipment, computer-integrated manufacturing, telecommunications and
commercial applications.

"This agreement marks the entrance of SPARCengine boards into the
reseller channel," said Robert J. McInerney, president of Arrow's
Commercial Systems Group.  "Sun and Arrow see tremendous potential in
expanding our master reseller agreement to include the SPARCengine
products."

At 21.8 SPECint92/22.8 SPECfp92 and 21.8 SPECint92/21.5 SPECfp92 SPEC
benchmarks respectively, SMCC's SPARCengine 2 and SPARCengine IPX
boards are the highest-performance RISC-based boards on the market.
These are the same boards used in SMCC's popular SPARCstation 2 and
SPARCstation IPX systems.  They use powerful application-specific
integrated circuits (ASICs) and advanced graphics technology to
compress all critical workstation functions   such as a SPARC(R) RISC
microprocessor, on-board graphics, memory, SCSI, audio and Ethernet
networking   onto a single compact board smaller than a sheet of
paper.

"Arrow has extensive experience in the reseller channel," said Charles
Berger, vice president of Sun's U.S. Marketing.  "SMCC looks forward to
using Arrow's expertise to expand SPARCengine board technology into the
embedded systems marketplace."

Offers Complete Solution for Developers

Besides selling SMCC SPARCstation and SPARCserver(TM) systems, Arrow
offers these systems as development vehicles for designing SPARCengine
board systems.  This brings the leading embedded software development
environment to Arrow's established base of reseller customers.

In addition, Arrow is managing the development of custom-designed
commercial applications for UNIX(R) systems and the Solaris(R)
distributed computing environment.  Arrow presently has six regional
Sun application porting centers, located in Columbus, Ohio; Boston,
Mass.; Hayward, Calif.; Tustin, Calif.; Long Island, N.Y.  and Atlanta,
Ga.  These centers provide facilities and equipment to assist
developers in porting their applications to the Sun(TM) platform.

Already trained for the SMCC product line, Arrow personnel have
completed additional sales and technical education for the SPARCengine
boards.
