	Sun Microsystems, Inc. Business Unit Demonstrates New Products
			at Software Development `92

Wembley, United Kingdom -- June 15, 1992 -- SunPro(TM), a Sun
Microsystems, Inc. business, today announced that it has established
operations in Europe to market software products that are crucial to
the development of computer applications. These products include
optimizing compilers for building new applications, programmer
productivity tools that enable the developer to complete work faster
and more accurately, and workgroup integration products that help teams
of developers work together more effectively. SunPro has opened its
European headquarters in Velizy, France. SunPro plans additional
regional offices in the United Kingdom and Germany by the end of 1992.

SunPro was formed as an independent business by its parent company, Sun
Microsystems, Inc. in July 1991. Although primarily known as a systems
manufacturer, Sun Microsystems has, since the company's formation,
invested heavily in compiler and tool technology to increase the
productivity of software developers. While Sun initially targeted these
products exclusively to its own platforms, the company recognized the
opportunity to satisfy increased user demand and expand its software
business in the growing markets for the SPARC(R) platforms and
Solaris(R) environment. As a result, Sun created the SunPro business
unit and transferred its entire line of compiler and software
development products, along with the associated engineering, marketing,
and support staff to the new organization.

"Our inheritence from Sun Microsystems combined with our very
successful first year of independent operation has made SunPro the
world's leading volume supplier of software development tools for SPARC
and the Solaris operating environment," said Jon Kannegaard, vice
president and general manager of SunPro. "Our new European operations
will enable us to serve our customers and distributors better in the
strong and growing European market for UNIX(R) systems."

SunPro has an installed base of over 550,000 units of software
development products worldwide in organizations that range from large
corporations to government agencies, universities, and independent
software vendors. SunPro's customers are professional developers who
create sophisticated, distributed applications for 32-bit UNIX
environments.


Showing Latest Products at Software Development `92

SunPro is exhibiting its newest professional development products for
the first time in Europe this week at Software Development `92 on June
16-18 at the Wembley Exhibition & Conference Centre in Wembley, United
Kingdom. The company's SPARCworks(TM) Professional products are the
industry's first software development products for the Solaris 2.0
operating environment. SPARCworks Professional development environments
consist of SPARCworks, a comprehensive set of programming tools for
creating, debugging, analyzing, and tuning application software, and a
SPARCompiler(TM) language system. SunPro provides software development
environments for ANSI C, C++, Pascal, Ada, and FORTRAN. Like Solaris,
SunPro products currently run on SPARC systems and will be made
available on Intel(R) 80X86-based personal computers and compatibles.


Broad Product Distribution

SunPro Products are distributed through value-added resellers and
distributors worldwide. These channels include the Sun Microsystems
Computer Corporation(TM) (SMCC) direct sales force; SMCC's indirect
channel partners; SunExpress(TM), a Sun direct telemarketing business;
original equipment manufacturers; SPARC system manufacturers; and
software master distributors. SunPro is expanding its value-added
software distributor network in Europe to further service its large and
growing installed base.
