The offices are located in the United Kingdom. SunSelect began operations on April 13, 1992 in Billerica, Massachusetts. It introduced the PC-NFS(R) 4.0 networking software product that allows personal computer platforms to take advantage of UNIX multivendor environments; the SunPC(TM) 3.0 line of high-performance personal computer emulation products, which enable SPARC(R) workstation users to run MS-DOS(R) and MS-Windows(R) applications; and NetWare(R) SunLink(R), a software product that connects Novell(R) NetWare LANs to SPARC server systems. "With the expanding European market for personal computer integration with UNIX computing, we expect our European operations to be critical to SunSelect's worldwide business and product success, said Carl Ledbetter, general manager of SunSelect. "Europe's government and business accounts are concerned with bringing the power of mixed vendor networking and open, client server computing to personal computer users, and with giving UNIX workstation users access to the full range of personal computing applications and resources. It is responsible for the marketing, service, support and distribution of the PC-NFS, SunPC and NetWare SunLink product lines in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Spain, and Portugal. David Ballantine is director of SunSelect's European operations. Prior to SunSelect, he was director of marketing for Sun Microsystem's European channels and managed Eastern European, Middle Eastern and African markets. Before Sun Microsystems, Ballantine was CEO of a laser printer manufacturer and also spent several years working for Digital Equipment Corporation and NEC in the UK, USA and Australia.
