  SunExpress To Offer Easy Ordering Of Sun Products To End Users In Japan

LINCOLN, Mass. --May 27, 1992-- SunExpress, a business unit of Sun
Microsystems, Inc. (SMI), today announced it has expanded operations to
Japan.  SunExpress Japan provides a new channel of distribution for
easy ordering and fast delivery of Sun products.  Choosing items from
the SunExpress(TM) catalog, users can place orders by telephone or fax
and receive products within five business days.  SunExpress will accept
orders in Japan immediately.

SunExpress offers users simple and quick access to customer-installable
products, such as storage, supplies, accessories, software and bus
expansion products.  Knowledgeable telesales representatives will take
orders, answer questions and provide sales assistance in both Japanese
and English.

Sun already services the Japanese market through Nihon Sun
Microsystems, SMI's largest non-United States affiliate.  Nihon Sun
Microsystems offers Sun(TM) products primarily through resellers.
SunExpress Japan will initially support the end-user education market.
In addition, SunExpress Japan will increase the visibility of the Sun
brand in this area.

The move to this region was prompted by the fact that Japan has been
the fastest-growing geographic market for Sun products for the past
year.  According to International Data Corporation, Sun is the leading
workstation supplier in Japan, the world's second largest computer
market, with a 25.2 percent share.

MITI (the Japanese Ministry of International Trade and Industry)
predicts a 20 percent compounded growth rate in the area of catalog
ordering and direct sales by telephone.  SunExpress will focus on
meeting the needs of this growing market.

Customers in Japan can order products toll-free by telephone or fax
weekdays from 8:45 a.m to 5:05 p.m. (local time). Products will carry
the Sun warranty, including a 30-day no-fault return policy.
