---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Florida SunFlash SUNERGY Newsletter Part 1 SunFLASH Vol 40 #2 April 1992 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ********************************* *1* Special Edition Broadcast * ********************************* Document Image Management (DIM) February 26th. Approximately 20 locations from 3 areas participated in this Executive Satellite Seminar Program. Featured were three industry/partner executives: Roger Sullivan 1991 President of AIIM, VP of BIS Strategic Decisions, and widely recognized as one of the world's leading authorities on DIM. Roger overviewed DIM trends. He explained that document complexity is driving corporations to adopt new DIM solutions. Market growth for DIM solutions is estimated at 57 to 66 percent (compound annual growth rates) for departments, subworkgroups, and workgroups. Businesses will have to keep up with DIM technology to remain competitive in the 90s. Joe McGrath VP of Document Solution Operations, Xerox Corporation Joe explained how the DIM trends mesh with the business priorities of today's corporations. Documents can be viewed as products, as support for products, and as a manifestation of a business process. Viewed in this manner, documents can be managed by applying traditional business techniques. Joe also discussed the DIM solutions that are emerging as a result of the current business priorities and document metaphors. Sharad Sheth VP of Document Processing Division, EDS Corporation Sharad communicated the position of the systems integrator in the DIM evolution. In a dynamic technological area like DIM, systems integrators can bring the expertise into your team and ensure that your solution takes advantage of the latest products, philosophies and business models. His talk included a case study of a DIM solution introduced into an accounts payable scenario. It is estimated that nearly 2000 viewers witnessed one of two live broadcasts (held back to back to accomodate different US time zones). If you missed the broadcast, there is a companion whitepaper available upon request. Send email to the Sunergy office and ask for the paper,"Perspective in DIM".
