These s/w packages have become know as 'consulting specials'. This article lists some new specials. AUGUST, 1991 Announcements: CONSULT-ST3480 Now supported IBM 3480 compatible tape units such as the Fujitsu M2480. We now have a solution for those mainframe accounts that need to access data to IBM3480 compatible tape drives from Sun. CONSULT-KBM Offered routines to map user addresses into kernel addresses spaces. Target customers are SBUS manufacturers or any value added hardware OEM with this requirement in their device drivers. CONSULT-IGATEWAY Has been enhanced with a feature called BSD-CLIENT which build iftp and itelnet sources files based on BSD4.3-Reno that can be ported to other vendors hardware running Unix. CONSULT-HCONS is one solution of an overall network security policy. It is intended for sites that want to control access to network services based on the requesting host's Internet Protocol (IP) address and service number (TCP/UDP port or RPC number). Feature Special of the month: CONSULT-XCOMP For customers having sun3 that need faster turn around time for compilation, the customer can use this package on a Sun4 host machine to generate Sun3 object code. This special is based on Sun 4.0 C compiler. SEPTEMBER, 1991 Announcements: It is with great pleasure for us to announce the availability of SPARC Toolkit from Sun Professionnal Services starting Oct 1, 1991. This product line was previously available from corporate technology marketing. The SPARC Toolkit includes many of the useful software tools for customers developing SPARC-based products. Please read below for more details. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- SPARC Toolkit packages: CONSULT-SPARCsim provides simulation of SPARC hardware used for debugging system software even before the availability of hardware. Decouples software/hardware integration issues and help shorten development cycle for SPARC-based products. Binary version. CONSULT-SPARCsimsrc source based of SPARCsim. CONSULT-SPARCmon is a C-based software monitor. It offers standalone libraries and download facilities and is highly adaptable to new target hardware. It also supports RDBXtool. Popular starter kit for embedded SPARC customers. CONSULT-RDBXtool offers source-level window-based and mouse-driven remote symbolic debugger of programs running on target hardware. Powerful tool often used by embedded SPARC customers. CONSULT-MPSAS supports the multiprocessing simulation requirements and advanced SPARC implementations that could not be supported by SPARCsim.
