SunConnect, a new Sun Microsystems, Inc. business, was formally
introduced Oct 8th, 1991 in a press release issued by SunConnect, which
is attached for your reference.

SMCC currently resells and offers complete support for all of the
SunConnect products.  Users should expect to be able to take full
advantage of SunConnect products through the SMCC price list and
world-wide customer service, although each product decision will be
made on a case-by-case basis.

 New Business Will Leverage and Build Upon Sun's Expertise in Networking
          UNIX Systems Into Heterogeneous Environments


MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- October 8, 1991 -- Sun Microsystems, Inc.,
today formally introduced SunConnect(TM), a business unit dedicated to
providing integration and network management solutions for
heterogeneous computing environments.

SunConnect leverages the expertise of Sun Microsystems, Inc. in the
UNIX(R) networking marketplace. Since its founding in 1983, Sun has
consistently led the industry in integrating computer equipment from
multiple vendors into powerful heterogeneous networks. Sun pioneered
the concept of distributed computing, in which all of an organization's
diverse computer resources can be accessed through the user's desktop
workstation. SunConnect now builds upon that expertise as it focuses on
networking UNIX systems into mixed-vendor environments and efficiently
managing enterprise-wide networks.

SunConnect offers products for enterprise-wide, PC, and LAN/WAN
connectivity, as well as an integrated platform for network management.
SunConnect products are based on industry standards, allowing customers
to introduce new technology into their existing systems, providing an
upward migration path to future technologies while protecting previous
computer investments.

To complement its product line, SunConnect has initiated a partnership
program in which third-party vendors work with SunConnect to
custom-tailor solutions to each customer's particular requirements. The
aim of the SunConnect Partners Program is to provide customers with the
widest possible range of choices.

drive and market focus of a start-up," said Scott McNealy, president
and chief executive officer of Sun Microsystems, Inc. "Yet with
financial backing from $3-billion Sun Microsystems, Inc., the company
has the resources -- including engineering, manufacturing, technical
support, sales and marketing -- to establish itself as the undisputed
leader in networking UNIX systems." Cheryl Vedoe, vice president and
general manager of SunConnect, will have responsibility for day-to-day
operations of the business. SunConnect will maintain its headquarters
in Mountain View, Calif.
