---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Florida SunFlash SUN HONORS 30 SUPPLIERS FOR SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE SunFLASH Vol 34 #5 October 1991 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. --October 4, 1991-- Sun Microsystems Computer Corporation (SMCC) today announced the winners of its 1991 Supplier Performance Award. The program acknowledges suppliers that have consistently offered the company excellence in "total cost of ownership." That means the winners provide quality products, excellent service and value while also demonstrating responsiveness, flexibility and consistency in their service to Sun. This year's winners are among thousands of suppliers worldwide, delivering everything from semiconductor chips and computer software to car rental and air travel services. (For a list of companies, see attached.) This year, the program recognized two levels of performance. The first, the Outstanding Performance Award, recognized suppliers that demonstrated overall excellence in performance. The second, the Meritorious Achievement Award, acknowledged suppliers that have demonstrated superior performance in one or more areas, such as contributions to cost savings, process improvements, special programs, significant achievements and overall improvements. This award also recognized small businesses and minority and women-owned businesses. The Supplier Performance Award Program is one of the programs that demonstrates Sun's emphasis on quality in its own products, operations and service. By looking for such attributes in suppliers, Sun is better able to provide quality service and support to its customers. Sun Microsystems Computer Corporation, a subsidiary of Sun Microsystems, Inc., is the world's leading supplier of client-server computing solutions, which feature networked workstations and servers that store, process and distribute information.
