Introduction
------------

The following product is being announced this week by SunConnect,
a business of Sun Microsystems, Inc.  SMCC will be carrying this
product per the pricing and ordering information attached.  

     
SunNet Manager Platform
-----------------------

With almost 30% market share and 35 Network Management Partners, SunNet
Manager is the industry's leading Unix-based platform for heterogeneous
network management.   Based on a distributable architecture, SunNet
Manager offers rich support for industry standard SNMP, and through
other SunConnect products, DECnet's NICE management protocol and FDDI's
SMT.  For users with large networks, especially given its five-to-one
price advantage over its closest competitors, this product is
indispensable.  With the new features announced today, its market
leadership will be ensured.  

SNM has been shipping for more than a year.  The platform offers a
network topology display, automated fault isolation, and network
monitoring and control.  The SunNet Manager product contains user
tools, network-based agents, and programming interfaces which make it a
complete package for network management yet allow extensibility by the
skilled user or value-added development partner.
  
Among its end-user features is the Discover Tool which actively seeks
out elements on the network for display on the window view.  Also
included are Browser and Grapher Tools which provide static and dynamic
event analysis.  Since there are many network management protocols,
multiprotocol support is built-in.

On-line Help					SunNet Manager manual pages are

		  				After installation, online help
					 	is available simply by pointing
						the cursor to the particular
						item on the screen and pressing
						the help key.  This features
						makes the product easier to
						learn and to use. 

SunConnect Partners Program			SunConnects has initiated the 
for Network Management				Partners Program to foster the
						creation of network management
						solutions based upon the SunNet
						Manager platform.  The program
						offers marketing and
					        engineering
						development support for
						qualified third parties.
