Beginning 1 November, SPARCstation customers can turn in their old
monitors and receive a 76Hz 16" or 19" Trinitron monitor (and a GX
frame buffer if ordered) at very aggressive prices.


	     SPARCstation Monochrome to Trinitron Monitor Upgrades
	     -----------------------------------------------------
Many SPARCstation 1, 1+, IPC, and SPARCstation 2 customers who purchased a 
system with a monochrome monitor have found it no longer meets their needs 
the way a color monitor can.  These customers can now upgrade to a 16" or 19"
Trinitron with a single slot SBus GX frame buffer.  The price is $3,995 for the 
16" w/GX and $5,995 for the 19" w/GX (both products are discount category A).


	       SPARCstation Color to Trinitron Monitor Upgrades
	       ------------------------------------------------
The installed base of SPARCstation non-Trinitron color monitors is over
100,000 units.  Of that base, there is a large number of customers who would 
prefer to have a Trinitron.  Now, they can upgrade to a 16" Trinitron for 
just $1,995 or a 19" for $3,995 (both products are discount category A).


All customers are required to return at least their old monitor.  All 
monochrome to Trinitron upgrades also require the return of the old frame 
buffer (except for SPARCstation IPC monochrome customers since the frame 
buffer is built on to the motherboard).  Return instructions are included 
with the upgrade, but it is up to the customer to make sure the monitor is 
returned in good working order.  The customer must pay shipping costs and 
shipping insurance (unless the upgrade is installed under a current service 
contract).

ORDERING NOTES
--------------

      Monitor upgrades can only be used as replacements for monitors with
      13W3-type connectors.  In other words, these monitors will not work
      on Sun-3 systems.  There is no adapter available.

      SPARCstation color customers who wish to upgrade their monitor and
      their frame buffer should order either UG-MON-16GX or UG-MON-19GX.  These
      customers will be required to return their old color frame buffer.

      SPARCstation IPX greyscale customers who wish to upgrade to a 
      Trinitron should order either UG-MON-16 or UG-MON-19.

      SPARCstation GX customers who wish to upgrade to a Trinitron monitor
      need to be aware of the following:
	- GX customers with #501-1645 as the frame buffer must have the frame 
          buffer at -04 or greater to upgrade to a Trinitron.
	- GX customers with #501-1532 as the frame buffer must have the frame
	  buffer at -10 or greater to upgrade to a Trinitron.
	- GX customers with #501-1481 as the frame buffer must have the frame
          buffer at -05 or greater to upgrade to a Trinitron.
