---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Florida SunFlash CADENCE TO OFFER OPEN LOOK INTERFACE ON SUN SYSTEMS SunFLASH Vol 30 #1 June 1991 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- OPEN LOOK Cadence Tools To Be Demonstrated at Design Automation Conference MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. --June 4, 1991-- Sun Microsystems and Cadence Design Systems, Inc., today announced that Cadence will offer the OPEN LOOK(R) graphical user interface on Design Framework II and all framework-based electronic design automation (EDA) products shipping on Sun(TM) platforms. These include Cadence's Amadeus(TM) Systems Design Series, Opus(TM) IC Design Series, Verilog-XL(TM) and PRANCE(R) products. OPEN LOOK versions of Cadence products will be demonstrated at the Design Automation Conference, June 17-20 in San Francisco. "Cadence sells more products on Sun SPARCstations(TM) than on any other platform," said Linda Prowse, Cadence's director of strategic partnerships. "Customers have shown interest in OPEN LOOK versions of Cadence tools on Sun workstations. Now these customers can realize the benefits of a common look and feel between Sun's desktop productivity tools and Cadence products." This announcement is part of a long-term relationship between the two companies. Sun uses Cadence products for in-house electronic design, while Cadence uses Sun systems for the development of Cadence software. The companies are also working together in other areas, including joint sales and marketing efforts and technology exchanges. OPEN LOOK versions of Cadence products will be available in the second quarter of 1992.
