---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Florida SunFlash Sun and Intergraph Sign SPARC System Reseller Contract SunFLASH Vol 26 #14 February 1991 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sun Workstations To Be Resold With DAZIX Electronic Design Software MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. --February 12, 1991-- Sun Microsystems and Intergraph Corporation today announced that Intergraph has agreed to purchase up to $150 million of Sun SPARC(R)-based systems during the next three years. The company will spend $35-45 million this year alone. The systems will be resold with DAZIX electronic design automation (EDA) software to customers throughout the world. DAZIX, an Intergraph company, will continue to sell and support Intergraph's Clipper-based workstations. Intergraph announced earlier this year that it intends to port most of its EDA software to Sun's SPARC systems and sell it through its DAZIX subsidiary. "This agreement gives our customers a cost-effective alternative solution when making their EDA choices," said Eliott James, president of Intergraph. "Using either a Clipper-based Intergraph workstation or a SPARC-based Sun workstation, DAZIX customers will be able to develop solutions tailored to meet their individual needs." DAZIX was aquired by Intergraph in December 1990. DAZIX products, used primarily for the design and development of electronic circuits and components, run on Sun's SPARC-based systems. They are currently being ported to Intergraph's Clipper-based systems. "This agreement with Intergraph further enhances Sun's position as the leading platform for EDA systems and software. With Intergraph making its EDA tools available on Sun, all the major workstation-based EDA applications now run on Sun," said Scott McNealy, Sun's president and CEO.
