The recent enhancements to Sun's desktop upgrade product line has
created some confusion - there are many upgrade options!  The following
matrix should help you make the right upgrade decisions.

At the workstation level, Sun has three main upgrade types:

  1) CPU board upgrades - allows for maximum retention of current investment.

  2) Chassis upgrades - customer receives a new system chassis (often diskful) 
     for use with their current monitor and peripherals.

  3) Full system upgrades - In return for specified systems, the customer
     receives a brand new system from top to bottom...including the monitor.

Note that the system upgrades to IPX and SS2 are diskful w/pre-loaded OS.
