SUN MICROSYSTEMS REPORTS $10.3 MILLION SALE TO DAZIX DAZIX Orders New SPARC Systems MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. --September 11, 1989-- Sun Microsystems today reported that Daisy/Cadnetix Inc. (DAZIX (TM)), a leading supplier of electronic design automation (EDA) solutions, purchased $10.3 million of Sun equipment during Sun's fourth quarter (April-June). DAZIX, one of Sun's major resellers in the EDA market, has already begun shipping these systems bundled with DAZIX' computer-aided engineering, design and manufacturing (CAE/CAD/CAM) software and will sell them through the company's 44-office worldwide network. The systems DAZIX purchased were from Sun's SPARC (TM) product family, including the SPARCstation TM 1 desktop system and SPARCstation 330 and 370 deskside workstations and servers. "We have seen an enthusiastic response from the marketplace for DAZIX' EDA applications running on the new SPARCstation family," said Buck Feltman, DAZIX senior vice president of marketing. "With these products, we are able to give our customers yet another increase in performance, without an associated increase in price. At the same time, we are able to honor our ongoing commitment to open systems and industry standards." DAZIX supports all of Sun's hardware platforms, including the Sun-3 (TM) , Sun386i (TM) and SPARC-based workstations. The SPARCstation 1 can deliver 12.5 MIPS in a package smaller than an IBM PC while offering many ease-of-use features. Its processing power and optional graphics capabilities enable the SPARCstation 1 to be used throughout the electronic design process. The SPARCstation 330 and 370 are the highest-performance systems Sun offers, delivering 16 MIPS and 2.6 MFLOPS. They provide the large amounts of memory (up to 56 megabytes), extra disk storage and expansion needed for a variety of high-end EDA applications. In addition, they are designed so that specialized subsystems and high-speed accelerators can be added. Sun Microsystems, Inc., headquartered in Mountain View, Calif., is a leading worldwide supplier of network-based distributed computing systems, including professional workstations, servers and UNIX(R) operating system and productivity software. ### SPARCstation, SPARC, Sun386i and Sun-3 are trademarks of Sun Microsystems, Inc.
