Utilzing GUIDE a developer can interactively and graphically design a user interface by selecting and dragging user interface components and dropping them in the desired location for the interface design. The developer can test the "look and feel" of the interface without generating code. When the design is complete, the developer can save the interface in a file and then have GUIDE generate the XView C code that defines the interface. GUIDE can signicantly reduce the development time for an application since it eliminates the need to code the interface. Utilizing GUIDE the developer can write interfaces which comply to the OPEN LOOK style. In addition, applications built to GUIDE will automatically support the "drag and drop" model of the DeskSet. GUIDE provides a mechanism whereby vendor applications can integrate well with the DeskSet environment. If you are interested in obtaining a copy of GUIDE, please contact your Sun Sales Representative.
