The industrywide 1Mb DRAM shortage appears to be finally showing 
signs of abating! Sun is now in a position this quarter to compete 
aggressively in providing cost effective memory solutions to our customers. 
Availability of 1Mb SIMM memory is excellent at this time and has 
given us the flexibility to develop an attractive Q3 program to help
sell more systems and to compete effectively against 3rd party memory 
providers. To that effect, we are pleased to announce a special Q3 program 
designed to sell more desktop systems and add-on memory.


Program Details :
----------------

o All customers who book 3/60 or 386i systems with greater than 
  4MB of memory (eg; 8, 12, 16, 20 or 24) will be offered a special
  price of $1,500 (non-discountable) for each 4MB memory increment
  beyond the initial 4MB included in the base system (up to a total
  of 24MB for the 3/60 and 16MB for the 386i). This will encourage 
  sales of 3/60's and 386i's with more memory. 

o In addition to the memory pricing incentive for systems, add-on  
  memory for 3/60 and 386i systems will be offered at a special 
  price of $6,000 (non-discountable) for 16MB increments; offering 
  an attractive price for the installed base. Customers can either
  install this memory in a single system or break it down into 4MB
  increments to be installed in multiple systems.
  
 
Terms and Conditions :
----------------------

  o This is a special Q3 program only for business booked by 
    March 31, 1989, for immediate delivery.

  o The program is effective immediately. 

  o This program applies to 3/60 and 386i systems only.

  o This offer will be extended to the backlog as follows: 
	
	An additional 4MB of memory will be shipped with all 3/60
	and 386i systems in the backlog ordered with 8MB memory or 
	more and scheduled for Q3 delivery.

	Customers with 4MB 3/60 and 386i systems in the backlog for
	Q3 delivery will have the option of changing that to 8MB 
	or greater for an additional $1,500 for each 4MB increment.

	Customers with 3/60 and 386i systems scheduled for Q4 delivery
	have the option of requesting Q3 delivery to take advantage of
	this program.

Ordering Information:
---------------------

  o You will need to make a minor change in the way 3/60 and 386i
    systems are currently ordered. To book 3/60 configurations larger 
    than 4MB simply order the 3/60 as a 4MB system and then add
    (1) each of the following product for each additional 4MB desired;

    > X1500S   - 4MB 3/60 Special System Upgrade             $1,500 

    To book 386i configurations larger than 4MB order the 386i as a 
    4MB system and then add the following products based on desired
    memory configuration;
   
    > RR1500D  - 4MB 386i Special System Upgrade             $1,500 
    > RR1500C  - 4MB RR150X/RR250 Special System Upgrade     $1,500
    
 

  o To order the 16MB add-on memory product specify the following 
    product number (DO NOT order the current X116C).
	
    > X6000S   - 16MB 3/60  "bag o' memory" Special          $6,000
    > RR6000D  - 16MB RR150 "bag o' memory" Special          $6,000
    > RR6000C  - 16MB RR150X/RR250 "bag o' memory" Special   $6,000
    

   NOTE : RR6000D contaims SIMM modules only. Additional memory board
          for the RR150 (for 12 & 16MB total in one system) will
          need to be ordered seperately.
