The STB includes timely and technical information on items of interest to programmers, system administrators, and Sun workstation end-users. The information ranges from short subjects covering a limited topic to articles and in-depth features containing detailed discussions on networking, the SunOS, programming languages, graphics, and applications programs. You will find the yearly cumulative index helpful to locate needed information from any STB issue. You can find copies of the STB at all field office libraries, or you can get your own subscription and have your department billed for this STB service. The current chargeback is $7.60 per issue. (We suggest one subscription per group or department.) HOW TO SUBSCRIBE TO THE STB (SUN INTERNAL ONLY): To subscribe send mail to `fir@sun' that includes the information shown below. Name Department Number Position or Title Office mailing address The item wanted (specify STB) ************************************************************** FOR FIELD AND CUSTOMER PROBLEMS: How to Change the Primary Contact Person and Mailing Address WHO RECEIVES THE STB MASTER COPY and HOW TO CHANGE STB MAILING INFORMATION This e-mail explains: a) who receives the Software Technical Bulletin (STB) b) how to make corrections or changes in the STB mailing address and customer name a) Each customer software support contract includes a monthly issue of the STB. One copy of the STB is mailed to the person designated as the technical contact. This person receives all technical literature and software updates for the contract. Sites with more than one contract may receive more than one STB copy, depending on how the contracts are set up. For example, a company with three contracts would receive three STBs. Note: These primary technical contact persons or departments may duplicate their `master' STB copy for all Sun workstation end-users. This limited permission for duplication does not include any duplication for resale, for distribution outside your company, or for distribution to employees of other companies not having a Sun software support contract. Plans are underway for contracts to include more than one copy of the STB distributed directly to individuals. Details on this availability will be forthcoming from Customer Service Division (CSD) Marketing. b) Distribution and maintenance of the mailing lists is not processed by the Software Information Services group. If you are not sure who the primary technical contact at a site is, or if you have any problems relating to incorrect address or incorrect STB contact, please do one of the following: Send mail with your request or the corrected information to STB Editor Mail Stop 2-312 Sun Microsystems, Inc. 2550 Garcia Avenue Mountain View, CA 94043 Send email with the request or corrected information to sun!fir or sun!stb-editor Please send the complete replacement address and make sure you mention you are correcting an STB entry (the data base is used for other types of distribution). The Field Information and Reports (FIR) group of Customer Service Division will then gladly update the data base for you and correct the STB delivery information. FIR needs the following information for all requests: Name Position (salesman, tech support engineer, etc.) Office mailing address The item wanted (in this case -- specify STB) ********* ********* ********* ********* International customers: International Sun customers should contact their local service group for local procedures regarding STB distribution and mailing. STBs are bulk shipped overseas for local distribution in Intercon. European customers receive their STBs from a local distribution of an STB printing in Germany.
