Any other special or non-generic installation instructions should be described below. Special Install Instructions: ----------------------------- NOTE 1: For users of SEAM 1.0 (Sun Enterprise Authentication Mechanism) on Solaris 2.6, we recommend that the following patches (or newer) be installed: 106639-01 /kernel/strmod/rpcmod 105564-03 /kernel/misc/rpcsec 105472-04 /usr/lib/autofs/automountd 106641-01 /usr/lib/fs/nfs/mount 105615-04 /usr/lib/nfs/mountd NOTE 2: The fixes for bugs 4117134 and 4137498 restore previous automounter behavior when a map contains an entry listing the same server multiple times and a directory is to be found in only one of these. Some have used this feature to avoid constructing a map that completely specifies the locations of directories, thereby using the automounter as a way to automatically search for them. For example, in the map for /home, there could be an entry: * server1:/export/home1/& server1:/export/home2/& In this scenario, a given directory exists in only ONE of the two specified mount points. The automounter is therefore being used to find the correct one. This is inappropriate use of the automounter feature, which was designed to improve the availability of automounted directories by being able to specify *replicated* mount points. The intent is that entries in a map exist in ALL of the specified locations. The use of this feature in this way is NOT supported; however, in the short term, these fixes are being provided to restore previous behavior. Users are strongly recommended to migrate their automounter configuration to one that does not rely on it behaving in this fashion. A future release may remove the capability of acting in this (unsupported) way completely. README -- Last modified date: Thursday, June 28, 2001
