This version of CLIB can cause the following errors: (TSA500.NLM 5.4.269) No data sets can be found. This error is also known as SMS error FFFDFFF2 or File not found. TSM will translate the error to: ANS1228E Sending of Object 'FileName' failed Circumvention or Fix: Install fixing Service Pack. ******************************************************************************* Novell NetWare Incident: 10065144 Failing NetWare OS Version: NW5.1 Failing SMS/TSA Modules & Version: tsands.nlm Failing Service Pack/TSA up Level: NW5.1 SP3 FIXING SERVICE PACK/TSA UP LEVEL: none Description: During the backup of SERVER SPECIFIC INFO (domain all-local option), NetWare abends with "Page Fault Processor Exception" at all TSM Client levels. The "servdata.nds" file is either locked (indicating a timing issue), corrupt or otherwise unreadable. Circumvention or Fix: Delete the "sys:system\servdata.nds" file, and allow the SERVER SPECIFIC INFO backup to recreate it. This will clear up abends caused by a corrupt/unreadable file. ******************************************************************************* Novell NetWare Incident: 2816912 Failing NetWare OS Version: NW6.0 Failing SMS/TSA Modules & Version: tsa600.nlm Failing Service Pack/TSA up Level: NW6.0 SP1 and below FIXING SERVICE PACK/TSA UP LEVEL: NW6.0 SP2 Description: NWSMTSDeleteDataSet API does not work for NSS volumes on Netware 6. Circumvention or Fix: Install fixing Service Pack. ******************************************************************************* Novell NetWare Incident: 2928395 Failing NetWare OS Version: NW6.5 Failing SMS/TSA Modules & Version: tsafs.nlm Failing Service Pack/TSA up Level: NW6.5 FIXING SERVICE PACK/TSA UP LEVEL: NW6.5 SP1 (to be dertermined by Novell) Description: When performing a backup/archive using the TSM/ITSM client for NetWare the following error can occur (which is found in the dsmerror.log file). (TSAFS.NLM 6.50 302) There are no more data sets to be scanned. ANS1028S Internal program error. Please see your service representative. ANS1512E Scheduled event 'SCHED1' failed. Return code = 12. This result when TSM/ITSM tries to backup/archive a file which has a exclusive open. Novell NetWare passes back a incorrect return code which TSM/ITSM interprets as a required STOP of the backup/archive process. When executing the NetWare API NWSMTSScanDataSetBegin, NetWare passes back return code 'FFFDFFD1' resulting in the above error message. The expected return code should be 'FFFDFFF2'. Circumvention or Fix: Install Service Pack 1 for Netware 6.5 when available. Work around: Any file which receives the above error should be added to the exclude list in the dsm.opt file. Following is a list of known NetWare files which can cause this problem: (This is a example of how they should be specified in the dsm.opt file) exclude sys:\_swap_.mem exclude sys:\etc\audit.ctl exclude sys:\etc\audit.log exclude sys:\etc\volmn\*.* ******************************************************************************* Novell NetWare Incident: N/A Failing NetWare OS Version: NW6.5 Failing SMS/TSA Modules & Version: n/a Failing Service Pack/TSA up Level: NW6.5 and above FIXING SERVICE PACK/TSA UP LEVEL: n/a Description: Excution of command line longer than 512 characters will cause the Novell NetWare server to crash. This is a limitation of the Novell NetWare command processing which is controled by Novell, not ITSM. This occurs on the Novell NetWare Console, not the ITSM console. Circumvention or Fix: You should not use command line arguments with ITSM which exceed 512 characters. ******************************************************************************* Novell NetWare Incident: 000357156 Failing NetWare OS Version: NW6.5 Failing SMS/TSA Modules & Version: TSAFS.NLM Failing Service Pack/TSA up Level: FIXING SERVICE PACK/TSA UP LEVEL: Description: When restoring files/directory's in NetWare 6.5 the trustee rights are appended to the existing trustee rights if any exist. The correct way this should work is that the trustee's should be deleted and recreate with the restore. This works correctly on NSS volumes, only fails on NWFS (traditional) volumes. Circumvention or Fix: Delete the file before restoring if they reside on a NWFS volume. ******************************************************************************* --------------------- 3. If the ITSM client is running with the COMPRESSION YES option and discovers that a file is already compressed by NetWare, it will send the file to the ITSM server without trying to further compress the file. The file will be sent as a NetWare compressed file. Known Problems and Limitations ------------------------------ - Web Client JRE 1.4 issue When using the Web Client with JRE 1.4 and above, these error message will be logged in the dsmerror.log on the machine where the TSM Client Acceptor resides when push buttons on the applet are pressed: Error -50 sending ht request Error writing to http socket ANS1005E TCP/IP read error on socket = X, errno = Y, reason : 'Connection reset by peer' or 'Connection aborted by host machine' ANS1006E TCP/IP write error on socket = X, errno = Y, reason : 'Connection reset by peer' or 'Connection aborted by host machine' This could potentially fill up your dsmerror.log with these messages. In order to prevent these messages from appearing in the error log, please disable caching in the JRE. This can be done through the "Java Plug-in Control Panel" under the "Cache" tab. Once this has been disabled, these error message should no longer appear. If you are using JRE 1.3.1_XX, this will not be a problem. If you are experiencing hangs with the web client using JRE 1.4 and above, disabling caching on the Java Plug-in will usually resolve this issue as well. - Node access list window (Web/Java GUI) When the change button is clicked in the Node Access List dialog on the Web Client and Java GUI, the currently selected rule's path will not be highlighted in the tree displayed in the Change Access Rule dialog. This will be fixed in a future release. - Access another node (Web/Java GUI) When accessing another node in the Web/Java GUI, the restore tree does not display images to which the other node has given you access. Use the access another node utility in the native GUI or the set access function in the command line client to restore images of another node to which you you have access. - Disable browser's proxy server if Web Client produces Security Exception If you get a Security Exception error when running the Web Client in your browser due to the Web Client trying to open a TCP/IP socket to a socks server, disable the proxy server via your browser settings or Java Plugin control panel. See the "Starting a Web Client Session" section in Chapter 3 "Getting Started" of the TSM B/A Installation and User's Guide for more information. - Web Client concurrent restore and tree expansion issues Running more than one restore or retrieve operation at the same time when using the Web Client may cause the browser to hang when destination or message windows from the different restore/retrieve processes appear on the screen at the same time. If you observe such behavior, wait until one restore/retrieve operation is finished before starting another. When using the Web Client, if you click on "Expand Entire Branch" and then click on "Collapse Entire Branch" through the View menu item in the backup or restore tree window, this may cause the browser to crash due to resource limitations. - Canceling restore when using the Backup/Archive GUI, Web GUI, and Java GUI If the user cancels a restore by choosing cancel from the GUI or aborts the restore, there will not be a restartable session available at the server. - Changing the language of the Web Client on an AIX browser To display the Web Client in a language other than the default language on an AIX browser, change the language at login time (Options->Language). For double-byte languages (Japanese, Chinese, Korean) in particular, the browser will not work properly if the locale is changed after login. - Web Client online help language issues When viewing the Web Client double-byte character set online help using Netscape Communicator, re-sizing the left navigation frame in the Help browser window may cause the text in the navigation frame to become garbled. Click the 'Reload' button in your Web browser to refresh the text. To view the non-English online help from the Web Client applet, you must install the language versions of the help files on the agent, the machine where the Tivoli Storage Manager Backup-Archive client was installed. If the language versions are not installed or are not available, the online help will be displayed in English. - Fonts required to display non-English characters in directory or file names with the Web Client are as follows: - For browsers running on AIX, the browser machine must have the WorldType fonts (available as package X11.fnt.ucs.ttf - AIXwindows Unicode True Type Fonts on the AIX distribution media) installed. - For browsers running on Windows, the browser machine must have the Arial Unicode MS font installed. This font is available with MS Word 2002 and MS Office XP. See Microsoft's KB article 287247 for installation instructions. If you require this font, contact your Microsoft representative. - Garbled characters in Administrative Client GUI due to locale If the Administrative Client is running in a different locale from that of the server, messages may contain some number of unintelligible characters. For best results, make sure the administrative client and the server are running in compatible locales. - This client supports conversion from a DOS name space to a LONG name space when the conversion has been restarted only using a V4.2.1 or higher TSM server. You may receive ANS1907E with RC=32 if conversion is attempted with a lower level server. - If the NODENAME is renamed and the client is using PASSWORDACCESS GENERATE, the TSM server password which is stored locally will no longer be valid. The user will be prompted for the TSM server password (which will be re-stored locally upon authentication to the TSM server). - Because of current Netware 6.0 limitations it is not possible to backup CD-ROM on Netware 6.0 (Install SP3 to resolve). - QUERY BACKUP/ARCHIVE -DETAIL command will not show correct modification dates for directories. This is limitation of TSA interface. - There is a known problem with the -filelist option and SMDR.NLM. If the -filelist option specifies a path which does not exist on the NetWare server, it may cause a NetWare server abend. Novell has been informed and will provide a fix. If the -filelist option specifies a valid path no abend will occur. --------------- 4. Getting Help --------------- Platform Specific Documentation ------------------------------- - Online Documentation: A copy of TSM manual 'Tivoli Storage Manager for NetWare Backup-Archive Installation and User's Guide' is shipped with the TSM Client. This manual is provided in two formats (HTML and PDF). If you have a web browser like Netscape or Internet Explorer you can view the HTML manual. If you have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed you can view the PDF manual. The manual can be installed by selecting component: 'Manual PDF format, Backup-Archive Clients Installation and User's Guide' 'Manual HTML format, Backup-Archive Clients Installation and User's Guide' during the install process. The HTML document can be viewed by starting Netscape or Internet Explorer and opening file: '{volume}:\tivoli\tsm\client\books\html\tsmnov.htm'. The PDF document can be viewed by starting Adobe Acrobat Reader and opening file: '{volume}:\tivoli\tsm\client\books\pdf\tsmnov.pdf'. NOTE: '{volume}' represents a NetWare volume or hard drive letter. The path shown for both the HTML and PDF files is the default path used with Tivoli Storage Manager install. If you have selected another location for the TSM install files, you must specify that path.
