Under the agreement, Competitive Automation's DHCP client, as implemented in its administrative product JOIN, will be licensed to SunSoft and included in future versions of Solaris. DHCP, the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, was developed by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) to simplify the administration of computers on TCP/IP networks. Specifically, DHCP dynamically assigns IP addresses, subnet masks and other configuration parameters at boot time when new machines appear on networks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1069: SoftQuad shipping HoTMetaL PRO SoftQuad Inc. of Toronto, Ontario, shipped the first copies of SoftQuad HoTMetaL PRO, the commercial version of its popular HTML editor. The software is now available for Microsoft Windows 3.1, and also for Sun SPARC Unix systems. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1070: Efficient Networks' 155 Mbps ATM SBus Adapter Efficient Networks began shipping their 155 Mbps SONET/SDH (STS-3c/STM-1) SBus ATM adapter in volume in August 1994.
