Sourced from ViaTech Development, Inc., OpenV*Xfer allows users to distribute software, collect data and execute system administration functions in a TCP/IP network. It is currently in use at several Fortune 500 companies. OpenV*Xfer communicates with popular network management platforms such as Sun's SunNet Manager, IBM's NetView/6000 and HP's OpenView to share configuration information and operational alarms. It supports the four phases of software deployment: configuration, packaging, scheduling and monitoring, and its easy- to-use graphical user interface (GUI) makes administration straightforward. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1100: Multi-Threaded ANSYS PowerSolver on Sun ANSYS, Inc. and Sun Microsystems Computer Corporation (SMCC) are demonstrating parallelization of the powerful, new ANSYS iterative solver, known as the PowerSolver using the Solaris Threads Application Programming Interface from SMCC. ANSYS, Inc. has incorporated the sequential PowerSolver within ANSYS Revision 5.1 (released to customers on September 26). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1101: Veracity: data-integrity/security s/w from Rocksoft Veracity is a new general purpose data integrity software tool that detects changes in a directory tree by reading the tree and generating a small snapshot file containing the names and cryptographic hashes of the contents of the files in the tree. The snapshot can then be used to generate a list of files that have been created, deleted, or modified since the snapshot was taken. Veracity provides early warning of corruptions that would otherwise propagate through backups undetected. Veracity can be used to: o Detect changes made by intruders. o Verify file transfers. o Check compression and encryption layers. o Seal files without encrypting them. o Streamline software configuration audits. o Timestamp documents. o Certify backups. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1102: Salix Systems introduces DocStor DocStor is a multi-user document control system that uses a standard Graphical User Interface (GUI) to give users the ability to control, store, retrieve and modify large numbers of files in a logical, organized manner. DocStor increases productivity by making the users job easier. The "point & click" interface allows users to access the entire documentation storage hierarchy within seconds. It controls the document storage environment and acts as a control room for electronic documents. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1103: HPCwire Table of Contents: November 18 November 18, 1994: Vol. 3, No. 45 HPCwire ia a for-fee Text-on-Demand E-zine for High Performance Computing. It is available for PC and Sun SPARC platforms starting at $1,495. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 9001: General FlashBack/SunFlash Information This article contains general information about the electronic journals that I edit and publish: "SunFlash" , "The Sun FlashBack" and "The Internet Sun FlashBack" I produced "The Florida SunFlash" for nearly six years. "SunFlash" is the continuation of that journal. When "SunFlash" grew to about 100 articles per month, 140,000+ subscribers and 30,000+ article requests per month I decided that it was time to make some changes. For a variety of reasons, I started the two new journals, "The Sun FlashBack" and "The Internet Sun FlashBack" , and moved production of all three journals to an independent company with its own resouces and Internet domain (FlashBack.COM). My goal, as always, is to provide useful, timely, high-quality information to the Sun user community. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 9002: FlashBack and SunFlash Index This article contains a one line index entry for each of the articles posted to the electronic journals that I edit and publish: "SunFlash" , "The Sun FlashBack" and "The Internet Sun FlashBack" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ You may send for any of these articles by sending mail to FlashBack@FlashBack.COM.
