This product has been significantly enhanced to meet the needs of IS organizations transitioning to large-scale, enterprise-wide object oriented (OO) software development. Since its introduction last year, StP/OMT has quickly established a dominant market position among all tools automating OO methodologies, outselling its nearest competition two to one. StP/OMT 2.0, available immediately, provides support for business process modeling through Jacobson Use Cases, and can now automatically generate both Smalltalk and Ada source code as well as C++. Continuing to address the evolution and convergence of OO methods, IDE also announces its full support for the Booch methodology: StP/Booch will be available January 31, 1995. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1090: Sbus Lossless Compression Accelerator Ceram Incorporated announces the ICEBoard, the first lossless compression accelerator card for Sun SPARCstations and servers based upon IBM's Adaptive Lossless Data Compression (ALDC) technology. The card provides performance improvements of up to 20x over software based compression techniques. Drivers for Programmed Logic's DTFS Compressed FIle System are available, as well as a developers kit for OEMs who wish to incorporate high speed lossless data compression in their applications. No-charge evaluations units are available ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1091: PowerBroker 1.1 now available PowerBroker lets UNIX sites selectively share the power of root without disclosing root's password. root sessions can be logged, replayed, and queried. A central policy specification controls who can do what, where, when, as root on a whole network. PowerBroker encrypts a session's network traffic to guard against eavesdropping of sys-admin actions. Version 1.1 now includes an expanded policy language that allows call-outs to site-specific programs such as smart card readers. Also, logging efficiency and log queries have been optimized to reduce system overhead. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1092: MSD Consulting Releases StatusLine V1.2 MSD enables Sun SPARCstation users to easily and immediately communicate with all workstations on the network with StatusLine. A powerful new communications utility that allows users to broadcast information to multiple workstations or a selected group on the network. StatusLine is window-based application which enables users to distribute short "status" messages, five text lines or less, to other StatusLine users on a network. StatusLine is a client-server software product based upon standard network (Ethernet and TCP/IP) protocols and a standard windowing (X-windows) system, making it flexible and easily expandable. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1093: SPARC-FLASH 11/94: Table of Contents The following is the table of contents for SPARC-FLASH, the monthly email bulletin from SPARC International. "SunFlash" is the continuation of that journal. When "SunFlash" grew to about 100 articles per month, 140,000+ subscribers and 30,000+ article requests per month I decided that it was time to make some changes. For a variety of reasons, I started the two new journals, "The Sun FlashBack" and "The Internet Sun FlashBack" , and moved production of all three journals to an independent company with its own resouces and Internet domain (FlashBack.COM). My goal, as always, is to provide useful, timely, high-quality information to the Sun user community. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 9002: FlashBack and SunFlash Index This article contains a one line index entry for each of the articles posted to the electronic journals that I edit and publish: "SunFlash" , "The Sun FlashBack" and "The Internet Sun FlashBack" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ You may send for any of these articles by sending mail to FlashBack@FlashBack.COM.
