The awards were announced at the Northern California Regional Technical Publications Competition Awards Banquet held in Berkeley, Calif. late last month. (82 lines) 63.50 South African University Chooses Sun The University of Witwatersrand (Wits) in Johannesburg, South Africa, has installed new computer hardware from Sun as the foundation for its migration from a proprietary mainframe environment to an open client-server computing model. Currently, the university's academic and research systems are moving off an IBM 3081 mainframe to a SPARCcenter 2000 server, a SPARCserver 1000 server and five SPARCstation 10 workstations. By the end of the year, the university's administrative functions will also migrate to the Sun(R) environment. (118 lines) 63.51 Eric Schmidt to Give SunWorld Keynote IDG World Expo made the following announcement regarding Eric Schmidt's Keynote Address at SunWorld'94. IDG World Expo is responsible for producing SunWorld'94, which takes place June 13-18 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. SunWorld '94 is the leading conference and exposition for the community of Sun, SPARC and Solaris users, resellers, third party software vendors, service providers and systems integrators. Schmidt's keynote address, entitled "The Network is the Computer: The Details Matter," is slated for Tuesday, June 14 from 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. in the Moscone Center.
