SunNet Manager 2.2.1 software provides users with the same ease-of-use and quick installation and configuration features previously only available in SunNet Manager 2.2 for the Solaris 2 system software environment. "The aliases provided in SunNet Manager 2.2.1 give us the ability to accurately depict network devices and connections within our network and the 'fade to blue' feature provides us with a more accurate view of the network status. With these, and several other, enhanced features, managing our network has become a smoother process." Along with the new product, the company launched an aggressive program that enables SunNet Manager software users on Solaris 1 or Solaris 2 to upgrade to the latest version for $1998, a savings of 60 percent off the list price. Upgrade Program Pricing & Availability SunNet Manager 2.2 and SunNet Manager 2.2.1 are currently available to new users through all authorized Sun distribution channels at a suggested retail price (U.S.) of $4995. SunNet Manager users on both Solaris 1 and Solaris 2 may take advantage of the $1998 upgrade program through the following options: * Solaris 1 users may upgrade their current SunNet Manager software to SunNet Manager 2.2.1 * Solaris 2 users may upgrade their current SunNet Manager version to SunNet Manager 2.2 * Users migrating from Solaris 1 to Solaris 2 may upgrade their current SunNet Manager version to SunNet Manager 2.2 Product Enhancements include: * Simplified Installation and Configuration -- New utilities and interface to help users start managing network resources quickly and easily. * Enhanced "Discovery" -- Users can choose between "Full Discover" or "Local Discover" for a quick topological view of a specific network segment or a full enterprise network map. * Predefined Requests -- reusable data and event requests allow users to automate requests that are repeated on a regular basis. * Support for SNMPv.2 -- The "GetBulk" and enhanced trap functionality features improve reporting efficiency and reduce network overhead. * Enhanced Object Editor and New Icons -- New, intuitive graphical representations and forms enhance the visual view of the network and make it easier to define resources that are loaded into the database manually or loaded by the Discovery tool. * Link Management -- Enhanced monitoring capabilities allow users to pinpoint problems on lines connecting routers, hubs and other network interface devices. * Aliases -- New visual representations let users apply one or more aliases to devices that have multiple network interfaces, providing a more accurate view of network connections.
