Why are these products being transitioned? A. The 1.3-GB SCSI disk options have been replaced with products which provide higher performance, lower price per Mbyte, higher capacity, more compact packaging, and/or better acoustic levels. (i.e. 3.5-in. 1.05-GB Fast SCSI-2 or 5.25-in. 2.1-GB Fast Differential SCSI-2 disk replaces the 5.25-in. 1.3-GB SCSI-2 disk) The 207-MB SCSI-2 Desktop Disk Pack is being transitioned because the 424-MB SCSI-2 Desktop Disk Pack provides over double the storage capacity and better performance at only slightly higher price per unit. Q. What about customers still using SunOS(TM) 4.1.1 Rev B and 4.1.2. ? What disk should they purchase instead of the 1.3-GB SCSI disk? A. The 1.05-GB SCSI disk is now supported on SunOS 4.1.1 Rev B and 4.1.2, same as the 1.3-GB SCSI disk. Q. Can SPARCserver(TM) 600MP Series customers continue to order the 1.3-GB SCSI disk for internal expansion? A. Yes. The 1.3-GB internal SCSI expansion disk (X572A) will still be available. Q. How long will support be available for the 207-MB and 1.3-GB SCSI disk options that are being transitioned? A. Hardware support services will be available for 5 years from last customer order date (until July 13, 1998.) (c) 1993 Sun Microsystems, Inc.
