Two key markets will benefit from this product release: US based multi-national companies who conduct business in Asia, and Asian based multi-national companies who require their local computing environment here in the US. Currently, the Asian Solaris products are available on an unsupported basis. Support for Japanese Solaris 2.2 should be available beginning July 1993. Customers purchasing hardware systems beginning January 1, 1993, receive a Solaris 2.x user license as part of their hardware "bundle". Customers in Europe receive the bundled European Solaris 2.x license, customers in Japan receive the Japanese Solaris 2.x license, and so forth. Because customers in the US receive the US Solaris 2.x license, they must purchase a separate upgrade license for each localized version of Solaris they require. No export or redistributions of the product is allowed except under PASSPORT terms and conditions. Prior to accepting the order, customers are required to complete a licensing agreement and customer profile survey. FEATURES AND BENEFITS --------------------- Translated software and documentation: o Ease of use for non-English speaking users who can more easily learn and use Sun (TM) products. o Helps Sun comply to local country and government standards. Operating System and Graphic User Interface translated: o Non-English speaking users can more easily navigate through menu items, help screens, error messages and DeskSet (TM) tools.
