The R&D center, under the direction of Jean Pierre Baudouin, will design innovative networking and communications products that will be part of Sun's networking product family, SunNet(TM). The center will focus on development work in areas such as high-performance OSI products, OSI network management facilities and programmer aids for international network computing. Products developed at the center will be designed for Sun's worldwide markets. "As one of the first companies to support open systems, Sun is fully committed to OSI standards," said Dr. Eric Schmidt, vice president of Sun's General Systems Group. "The decision to locate Sun's first European R&D facility in France was in part based upon the strong OSI networking talent located here."
