What is the difference between this version and the previous kit. A. The first SBus Developer's Kit had six documents; the new, improved version has 11 documents, several software drivers and utilities on a diskette, and four hardware samples. We listened to our SBus customers and made additions and corrections to the original kit to more closely meet their needs. Q. How has the SBus specification changed A. Appendix C of the SBus Spec A.2 lists all the changes from version A.1. The changes are primarily corrected errors and clarified wording as compared to A.1. Some enhancements have been made to the specification. Some of the major improvements are: - Capacitance limit for SBus signals at or below 20 MHz has been increased to 160pf. - Component height above the SBus cards has been changed to 15.31 mm to be compatible with VME environments. - The backplate has been modified, also to be compatible with VME environments. - Protocol for driving the data bus has been made easier. Q. What do I do if all I need is the SBus specification? A. You do not need to buy the SBus Developer's Kit-II if all you need is the SBus specification. The SBus specification is available for developers through all Sun sales offices at no charge. Q. Is there an upgrade price for this kit if I already have the earlier one? A. If you bought the first kit, you will get SBus Developer's Kit-II at no charge. If you received a complementary copy, there is a single low price for the kit to cover our publishing and handling costs. Q. What should I do if I have any technical questions regarding the SBus specification? A. For all technical help with SBus, contact the SBus Technical Support Group in Mountain View.
