It is an effective tool for large commercial IBM accounts that have a large installed base of mainframe/3270 applications. While the previous version ran under NeWS 1.1, 7.0 CG3270 runs under OpenWindows using the NeWS portion of X11/NeWS. CG3270 is an excellent showcase for NeWS as it allows for dynamic resizing of text and graphics windows, postscript-compatible output, and entirely window- and menu- based operation. Although this version of CG3270 does not conform to the OpenLook GUI, we have made every possible attempt to minimize the differences between the NeWS/Lite GUI and OpenLook. CG3270 is also the first Sun product to make use of SunNet License to manage concurrent usage license pools. CG3270 is licensed based on the maximum number of concurrent sessions (independent of the number of workstations). SunNet License is optimized to allow effective management and control of products that are licensed with the above model.
