ANNOUNCEMENT BRIEF
------------------
Sun announces today that it will offer the 207MB 3.5-inch disk drive as an
Internal and External X-Option.  The 207-Mbyte disk drive offers significantly
better price/performance for the same price as the 104-Mbyte disk drive.
The 207-Mbyte drive doubles the capacity, reduces seek times by 20% and
increases the maximum sustained transfer rate by over 60%.

SunOS 4.1 or higher supports the 207-Mbyte drive.

The 207MB drive can run with SunOS 4.0.3c provided a new entry is added to the
"format.dat" file and it is used *Only* as a data disk (i.e., will *Not* work
as UNIX boot drive).

The power dissipation of the 207-Mbyte drive exceeds the cooling limits of the
SPARCstation 1/1+ and if placed internally to the SPARCstation 1/1+,
it will result in *reduced* reliability to the 207-Mbyte drive and *also* to
the system itself.
