INTERLEAF ANNOUNCES NEW LOW-COST, HIGH-POWER PUBLISHING SOFTWARE FOR SUN WORKSTATIONS Significant Reduction in Price, Hard Disk Requirements Cambridge, MA -- May 15, 1990 -- Interleaf, Inc. today announced Slim TPS Basics, a new publishing software package for Sun workstations at a promotional price of $795. Slim TPS requires less than half the disk space required by other versions of Interleaf workstation software, and is user-installable. The package comes with ease-of-use tools including an on-line demo and an Instant Expert tutorial. A free trial version is available. Bob Weiler, Interleaf's president, said: "Slim TPS offers Sun users very powerful workstation-based publishing at a PC price. This is an ideal package for engineers, writers and others looking for an easy-to-use single-seat publishing solution or add-on seats for existing publishing and information management systems. Slim TPS integrates word processing with sophisticated graphics capabilities, data-driven charting, an equations editor and automated page layout. A mini-database manager built into the software allows users to assemble multiple versions of documents automatically. The software outputs to PostScript printers, and comes with LaserWriter Plus(R) fonts. Documents created with Slim TPS are fully compatible with other Interleaf documents, and can include information from virtually any software package including word processors, spreadsheets, databases, CAD, CAM and CASE. Slim TPS runs on the Sun 3(TM) and SPARC(TM) families of computers, including the new SPARCstation SLC(TM), and future versions will support the OPEN LOOK(TM) graphical user interface. As with other Interleaf products, users may add on modules to increase functionality in specific areas. An upgrade path is also available from Slim TPS to Interleaf's high-end publishing software.
