INTERACTIVE WORKS WITH HP, SUN TO PROMOTE THE NORTON UTILITIES FOR SYSTEM V

SANTA MONICA, Calif. -- April 30, 1990 -- INTERACTIVE Systems
Corporation today announced that it will jointly promote The Norton
Utilities(R) for System V with Hewlett-Packard Company and Sun
Microsystems, Inc.  Both HP and Sun have individual agreements with
INTERACTIVE, a Kodak(R) company and a pioneer in bringing UNIX(R) to
the commercial marketplace.

HP will offer The Norton Utilities for System V as part of its Instant
Ignition program, which preloads and ships the HP-UX UNIX operating
system and a set of applications software with each HP9000 Series 300
workstation.  A demo of the The Norton Utilities for System V will be
packaged with the Instant Ignition software and can be quickly reviewed
by HP workstation users.

"The commitment of HP and Sun -- the two largest UNIX workstation
players -- to support The Norton Utilities for System V is indicative
of the impact this product will have on the UNIX marketplace," said
Ajit Gill, vice president of INTERACTIVE's Imaging and Applications
Division.  "Norton offers UNIX users a complete set of easy-to-use disk
and file management capabilities that will make UNIX a more powerful
tool to increase productivity on the desktop."

Well-known by DOS users, The Norton Utilities for System V is a suite
of disk and file management tools that eliminates many of the
complexities traditionally found in UNIX.  Among its features, Norton
can recover erased files and directories - a capability previously
unavailable to UNIX users.  In addition, The Norton Utilities for
System V diagnoses hard-disk problems without damaging "live" data and
makes it much easier to manage files.

According to A.C. Ross, director of marketing, desktop applications, at
Sun, "Sun has already made UNIX easy to use through the OPEN LOOK
graphical interface and intuitive file management capabilities.  Norton
complements OPEN LOOK with its disk manager and other tools.  Sun is
very successful in the commercial UNIX marketplace, and we believe
products like The Norton Utilities for System V will greatly assist us
in maintaining our momentum onto the desktop."
