-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Campus Catalyst Program SunFLASH Vol 15 #16 March 1990 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SPECIAL PROGRAM FOR U.S. Nonprofit Educational and Nonprofit Research Institutions. ONLY ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Program Overview ---------------- Campus Catalyst, sponsored by Sun's Education and Research Marketing group, is a program designed to make it easier for academic and research software and hardware developers affiliated with educational and nonprofit institutions to become members of the Sun Catalyst Program. It has been created in recognition that a lot of excellent software is being developed in colleges, universities, and research labs, and that Sun does not have a program to attract and reward this software base. A new application form has been designed and has been distributed to U.S. sales offices. The catalyst program provides software and hardware developers with substantial discounts on their initial development systems. The catalyst catalogs are distributed through all the Sun sales offices. Who Is Eligible to Apply? ------------------------- The Campus Catalyst Program is targeted at software and add-on hardware developers at accredited institutions of higher education, and at nonprofit research institutions, and affiliated institutions. Faculty or staff members are encouraged to apply to the program if they have or plan to develop products that are of general interest to other academic and/or commercial customers. They must also show reasonable efforts to support and maintain the Catalyst product. We are not encouraging students to apply since they are a transient population and may create "orphaned software." An individual or a department within a university can submit its own application. There are no limits to how many Catalyst applications each institution may submit. Campus Catalyst discounts cannot be combined with any other education discounts. Entry Requirement ----------------- The applicant must do the following: 1. Submit a completed Campus Catalyst application. 2. Submit a letter on university letterhead approving distribution of the product. 3. Submit a project plan that contains the following information: - Project summary - Statement of Objectives - Background of project - Technical description of product - Sources of funding for project - Distribution and support plans For more details on this program, please check with your local sale office. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Sunflash is an electronic mail news service from Sun Microsystems, Ft.
