-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CSS Announces the On-Line Support System SunFLASH Vol 14 #12 February 1990 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sun's Customer Service and Satisfaction Division is now offering support contract customers another method of getting answers to their technical questions with the introduction of its On-Line Support System (OSS). The On-Line Support System will provide 24 hour access to a bulletin board where customers can retrieve timely Sun product information and an automated patch request database which allows customers with support contracts to order existing patches automatically. Currently the On-Line Support System only addresses issues directly related to SunOS, but by June, 1990 this informative service will be extended to a majority of Sun products. Access to the On-Line Support System will be through 1200/2400 baud modems and an 800 number. Support Contract customers can call 800-477-4768 and dial into the system 24 hours a day. Terminals should be set to 7-bit data, 1 stop bit, and even parity. Once at the "Sun Support Login:" prompt, login as "guest", with no password, and the main menu will appear. Once at the main menu the system is self guided. We are anxious to hear your feedback on the system and especially the information it contains. The success of this system depends heavily on input from many sources and we encourage users to submit their comments using the "reply" mechanism in the On-Line Support System. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Sunflash is an electronic mail news service from Sun Microsystems, Ft.
