On February 9, 1990, Sun will begin shipment of OpenWindows 1.0.1.
This product will immediately replace OpenWindows 1.0 and will be sent
automatically as an upgrade to all current OpenWindows customers.

OpenWindows 1.0.1 is a bug fix release.  Customers should expect
to see that significant improvements have been made in terms of
eliminating important bugs from the system.  A total of 88 bugs
have been fixed in this release.  The 1.0.1 release was not
intended to be a performance release, but there has been some
performance improvement over the OpenWindows 1.0 release.

Please note that OpenWindows 1.0.1 is still a Developer's release.
An OpenWindows End User release for general purpose use will be
announced at a later date.  OpenWindows 1.0.1 will ship in
volume since the allocation program implemented with OpenWindows
1.0 has been officially lifted.

Documentation Changes
---------------------

OpenWindows 1.0.1 has the following new documents:

	o XView programming manual -- O'Reilly and Assoc.  This
	  replaces the old XView API manual and will be available
	  in book stores as well as with the product.
	o New Installation and Startup guide.
	o New Read This First

Installation Video Tape
------------------------

OpenWindows 1.0.1 now includes a training video on installation.
The video is about 30 minutes long and includes an introduction
to OpenWindows and a step-by-step guide to installing the product.
Inclusion of the video will require that you order the correct
video format when ordering OpenWindows 1.0.1.

Upgrades for the OpenWindows 1.0 installed base
-----------------------------------------------

The current OpenWindows installed base will be upgraded by SD
at no charge.  Customers who receive the upgrade will get a new
copy of the OpenWindows 1.0.1 software, the new documentation,
and the video. (Documentation that they already have will not
be resent)

Notes:  o This software will ship worldwide on 2/9.
	o OpenWindows 1.0.1 is licensed in the same manner
	  as OpenWindows 1.0.  A customer may make a copy of
	  this tape for any 8MB Sun system at their site.

	  until 2/9/90.  Shipments prior to that date will be
	  OpenWindows 1.0.

	o On 2/9/90, all orders on the books will be converted
	  to the new part numbers and OpenWindows 1.0.1 will be

	o Only orders for the part numbers shown above will be
	  accepted after 2/9/90.
