MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. --December 4, 1990-- Sun Microsystems, a leading workstation vendor, and Healthcare Affiliated Services, Inc. (H.A.S.), a leading developer of software for the healthcare industry, have combined forces to offer an advanced, easy-to-use computing solution that automates many of a hospital's information needs. FUSION(TM) from H.A.S. the first complete Hospital Information System (HIS) software for powerful, UNIX(R) computers will run on Sun's SPARC(R) workstations. It is a comprehensive HIS that takes advantage of networks of multiple workstations throughout a hospital organization and consolidates clinical, financial and administrative information. 24.03 F3 Font Suppliers F3 fonts can be obtained directly from the F3 font suppliers. We encourage you to fax font requests to these suppliers! The demand for additional F3 fonts will keep the suppliers producing lots of them, for use with SPARCprinter, NeWSprint and OpenWindows. This article lists the major suppliers of F3 fonts. 24.04 Matsushita To Build SPARC computers Company Will Also Purchase SPARC Systems From Sun MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. --December 5, 1990-- Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd., (MEI) plans to develop high-performance computer systems based on SPARC(R), a RISC microprocessor architecture designed by Sun Microsystems. MEI has chosen SPARC as its RISC architecture and will use it in products for the UNIX(R) systems and embedded controller markets. MEI's new desktop and laptop SPARC systems will run Sun's UNIX operating system, its networking standard, ONC(TM), and the intuitive OPEN LOOK(R) graphical user interface. These computers will conform to SPARC Compliance Definition (SCD) 1.0 from SPARC International, assuring compatibility with SCD-compliant SPARC systems from other vendors. 24.05 Air Force Institute Chooses Sun MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. --December 5, 1990-- Sun Microsystems Federal, Inc., will supply powerful SPARC(R)-based workstations to the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) through a contract estimated to reach $7.4 million during the next two years. AFIT, located at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, is an educational institution for Air Force students at the graduate level. Sun workstations will support Air Force education and research conducted by faculty and students. 24.06 Introduction To NFS I have received a number of technical articles from Tony Brooks, a Sun engineer. Any help would be greatly > appreciated. 24.08 Desktop Sun3/Sun386i to SS-IPC Upgrade Sun announces two promotional upgrades for all Sun-3 desktops and 386i systems to SPARCstation IPC. The upgrades, one with a 207 Mbyte drive and one without, both come with a free 19" color monitor if ordered between now and January 7, 1991. Pricing has been set to ensure that SPARC migration progress will continue at an accelerated pace. 24.09 Sun and Foxboro sign strategic agreement MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. --December 10, 1990-- Sun Microsystems and The Foxboro Company, a Siebe Company, have signed a joint technology and business agreement. This agreement will allow Foxboro to incorporate SPARC(R) and other advanced Sun computer technologies into Foxboro's I/A Series(R) industrial process management and control system on an ongoing basis. The agreement also includes an exclusive marketing arrangement whereby Foxboro will provide an integrated product offering to satisfy the requirements of their industrial automation customers. 24.10 Six Accounting/Business Apps Move To Sun MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. --December 11, 1990-- As part of its rapid expansion into business markets, Sun Microsystems announced today that six leading software vendors have developed versions of their corporate accounting/business management application packages for Sun's SPARC(R)-based workstations and servers. The vendors include State Of The Art, SBT, Oracle, MCBA, FourGen and Armor. Four of these companies now ship SPARC versions of their products and two will begin shipping their products within the next three months. It is reproduced with permission. 24.14 Sun to Repurchase Shares MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA --December 13, 1990-- Sun Microsystems, Inc., (SUNW), today announced the adoption of systematic repurchase programs which will enable Sun to repurchase in the open market a portion of the shares of Common Stock which it expects to issue under its 1990 Long-Term Equity Incentive Plan and its 1990 Employee Stock Purchase Plan which were approved by Sun's stockholders today. Sun intends to repurchase shares under these systematic repurchase programs on a regular basis during the terms of these two plans, and to reissue the repurchased shares in connection with such plans. 24.15 Networking Portfolio Overview Sun's catalyst group produces Portfolios that cover cetain market segments.
